Description: For sale is a WW1 British Victory medal that is engraved to 114280 Gnr J Raw R.A. James Raw was born on the 16th of February 1890, and was 23 years 169 days old upon enlisting into the British army. He occupation on enlisting was a butcher. And he lived at 50 Market Street in Bolton upon enlistment. James Raw had previous military experience with the army service corps where he served with them for seven days. He enlisted into the British army and served with the royal garrison artillery from the 7th August 1916 onwards. James Raw was entitled to the British war medal, victory medal and silver war badge. Unfortunately only his victory medal is present. James served with the royal garrison artillery, in various coys and siege battalions including; 42nd Coy, 259th siege battalion and 284th siege battalion. James Raw was discharged from the British army on the 6th of September 1917 after contracting Pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) whilst serving in France. This is why he was entitled to the silver war badge. This medal is in mostly good condition however the ribbon itself is damaged, so please see photos for more details.
