Description: Original political cartoon from the first Earth Day! This historic, environmental action day premiered on April 22, 1970, as the cartoon's title reflects. Created by famed American artist Pat Oliphant, whose celebrated career spans over 60 years. Copyright 1970 Denver Post / Los Angeles Times. Measures 7-3/8" by 4-5/8". Was carefully clipped from the newspaper and mounted on paper of a similar size. This backing adds thickness and has protected it from damage that could occur when in a thinner state. Hard to find artwork, now over 50 years old, which commemorates a significant day in the struggle to protect the environment!> > > Please see the photographs for details. Note: The cartoon's front has some brownish tint to it (due to aging), which is a bit more (but not a lot more) than seen in the photos (the pictures were taken in brighter light to show all the cartoon details more clearly).
