Description: This is a Vintage Silver Crest Cigarette Box or Trinket Box made probably during the 1950's. It is made of solid heavy gauge bronze with a silver colored name plate and latch. The nameplate has the letters 'E. L. F.' engraved but we have no information on who that may have been. Inside it is lined with wood, probably cedar. On the underneath it has the Silver Crest Logo which says Genuine Silver Crest Bronze and the model number 518-36. The box is in wonderful condition with no dents or scratches but it does have what appears to be tarnish discoloration on the top and inside of the lid. We left that alone but a new owner may wish to remove it. It is 8 inches long, 3.5 inches wide, and 1.5 inches thick. It weighs 1 pound, 6 ounces. This box was made by a company called Smith Metal Arts and its origins go back into the 1880's. From about 1920 on, they made a variety of very high quality bronze desk and office accessories. usually with an art deco flavor. Their Silver Crest Logo is an indicator of a very well made item and this one is a typical example. The Company is still in business today but with much different lines of products and different owners. Pricing is a bit of a guess. We invite your offer. Shipping will be less than $10.00 anywhere within the U.S. and we accept returns for any reason.
