Vintage ONETA (WAPAK) No 8 Cast Iron Skillet Restored

Description: The is an ONETA No 8 cast iron skillet that was produced by The WAPAK Hallow Ware Co sometime in the 1920s. The WAPAK Co was based in Wapakoneta. The used the city's name to form the brands WAPAK and ONETA. This is another company with a limited production year from 1903 to 1926. There were only three sizes of skillets in this series a 7, an 8 and a 9. The pan is in full restored condition and ready to use. The cooking surface has pin size pits and hints of utensil scores. The bottom surface has some effects of sulfur erosion. These are almost undetectable as you glide your fingers over a near glass smooth surface. smooth surface. Four sheets of printer paper slipped under one side of the pan stops movement on a polished granite surface. No chips, cracks or repairs and does not spin.Test for flatness of skillet. With the skillet resting on a polished granite surface, press down all along the top rim searching for movement. If movement is found, slip pieces of printer paper under one edge of the until pot stops moving. Item was stripped down to bare metal using collector approved lye bath and electrolysis treatments. This process ensures the removal all residue from previous use making it safe to use once more. Item is lightly seasoned with one round of Crisco at 450 for 1 hours. This item was photographed in very bright light to highlight fine details. Under these lighting conditions, item may take on a brown color. Items are much darker under normal light.
