Description: Vintage JOHANNES XXIII EX INDUMENTIS Relic Icon Pendant Reliquary ITALY 3/4" This Small Silver Medal of Pope John XXIII - Pont Max on front & EX INDUMENTIS White Cloth Relic Encased & centered in red enamel on Back. Marked ITALY Measures Approximately- 5/8" in wide x 3/4" without bale or 7/8" Long including bale. Pope John XXIII -1958-1963. His cause for canonization was opened on 18 November 1965 by his successor, Pope Paul VI, who declared him a Servant of God. On 5 July 2013, Pope Francis – bypassing the traditionally required second miracle – declared John XXIII a saint, based on his virtuous, model lifestyle, and because of the good which had come from his opening of the Second Vatican Council. He was canonized alongside Pope John Paul II on 27 April 2014. John XXIII today is affectionately known as "the Good Pope. The phrase ex indumentis is Latin for "from the clothing", most commonly used when referring to Second Class holy relics of saints or blessed individuals. Example of a modern religious medal improperly marked "Ex Indumentis" that is not truly "from the clothing" of the saint.
