Description: [zipedit] ; ITEM TYPE: unusual Inuit carving, probably of a seal or seal spirit ...Signed by noted eskimo carver Levi Smith (1927-1986) who was known for is imaginative depictions of native wildlife/spirits/transformations, etc...They capture the animals in a way that is not "whisker for whisker" realistic....but more the soul of an animal MATERIAL: mottled stone MAKER/MARKS: Has Canada Eskimo Art sticker on the bottom, and incised into the stone on the bottom is c 74 Levi Smith, as well as an inventory number that is partially obscured by the sticker (but I don't wish to remove the sticker)... Appears to be _ _ 698, with the first two numbers being partially hidden by sticker. DIMENSIONS: approx 3 1/2" tall x 2 1/2" x 3" CONDITION: very good, light shelf wear.
