Description: ***********The FHF 909 automatic movement runs about 2 minutes slow by the end of its approximate 36 hour power reserve period. Additionally, the bezel rotates a bit too easily and has some give to it. Given these issues, that this watch is approximately 50 years old and considering the movement's unknown service history a complete overhaul is likely long overdue and recommended.***********This vintage 1970's Titus Clebar Calypsomatic 8895, seldom seen in this configuration, has a matte black "T SWISS MADE T" signed dial that is in lovely but not perfect condition as it shows a difficult to see rub mark. This mark can be most clearly seen in pictures 12 through 15. This mark can only be seen from certain angles and lighting conditions. The original lume, which remains fully intact and emits a quick burst glow after being exposed to bright light, has aged beautifully to a warm buttermilk hue. The worn, stealth bezel, which has lost all of its enamel paint, rotates a bit too easily and has some give to it. The all stainless steel case shows honest wear with minor signs of oxidation. The outside of the case back is stamped "ALL STAINLESS STEEL WATERPROOF NON MAGNETIC SWISS INCABLOC" with "SOLVIL et TITUS" followed by "GENEVE" and "8895" stamped in the center. The inside of the case back is stamped "SOLVIL ET TITUS" followed by "SWISS" and "B 1598." The crystal shows light scratching. The 17 jewels unadjusted Swiss "SOLVIL & TITUS GENEVE" stamped FHF 909 automatic movement with quickset day and date functions runs strong, albeit a bit slow, and both the day and date wheels roll over at 12 am. The quickset date function works flawlessly by pulling the crown out to the second and final position and then turning the crown clockwise. When this is done the day wheel stays static with the date wheel decreasing (goes down ie. 31 to 30 etc). The quickset day function works in a similar manner with the exception of having to turn the crown counterclockwise. When this is done both the day and date wheels advance in tandem, with the date wheel advancing (goes up ie. 30 to 31 etc). After recently winding the signed screwdown crown 39 full revolutions the movement ran about 2 minutes slow by the end of its approximate 36 hour power reserve period. The crown unscrews and screws back down perfectly as it should and winds buttery smooth. Given that the movement runs a bit slow, that the bezel needs to be tightened and considering the movement's unknown service history a complete overhaul is likely long overdue and recommended. This watch measures approximately 38 mm excluding the crown, approximately 42 mm including the crown and approximately 20 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 11.5 mm. Including the crystal thickness measures approximately 12.5 mm.Given the issues mentioned a complete overhaul is recommended.
