Description: Up for bid is an original vintage pre-owned 1940's Blue & Orange Maxwell House Coffee Can 1 Pound with Lid Key. Found at an estate sale of a collector of coffee tins. This is a One Pound Maxwell House Regular Grind Key Wind Coffee Can with the original lid. The can is in great condition for its age with minimal wear, some oxidation and some minor surface rust. The litho is still bright and colorful. This can features a large white coffee cup with an orange stripe. The can measures 5 inches in diameter by 3 1/2 inches tall. It includes the key and still has the metal around the key that it removed when the can was opened. A wonderful piece of vintage advertising. History: The Maxwell House Coffee name originates from an effort by the company to honor the Maxwell House Hotel in Nashville, Tennessee. The coffee brand introduced in 1892 by its originator, Joel Cheek, was the largest-selling coffee brand in the United States until the late 1980’s. The tilted coffee cup that can be seen on the side of the can was spotted in newspaper advertisements of 1921. This image is a visual representation of the slogan “Good to the last drop,” which was introduced in 1915. In 1928 General Foods bought Maxwell House Coffee. The Maxwell House is an American brand of coffee manufacturing and Distribution Company. It is one of the most famous and top-selling brands all over the world.
