The slab for this piece is from a 200-year-old Colorado native polar tree. Taken from a section of tree with a huge 6-foot diameter. The outer natural raw edge is nearly flat from such a large diameter piece. HAND-WORKED: No automatic motorized rotary planer... It was carefully cut then hand-worked down to a flat backed slab of no more than 1-1/2" thick at the thickest point.
