Description: A beautiful small sword from the last half of the 1700s (to the best of my knowledge - please do your own research). Not sure of the origin, but would presume it to be Italian. Blade of triangular section with the lower one grooved, engraved with floral motifs closer to the hilt. Steel hilt, richly decorated with carved and faceted small beads arranged in rosettes and bands, decorated with very thin copper wire bindings, the oval shell-guard pierced with rays and circular holes. Copper wire inserts are all over the ricasso. The base of the shell-guard covered with a brass plate with remains of the original gilding and what appears to be original rain-guard. Needle-sharp point. Very rare and absolutely spectacular sword. Hilt shows nice patina. Solid with no play present and perfectly balanced in your hand. One wire decoration is missing from the pommel on one side. Other than that, it’s as beautiful and deadly as the day it was made. A great example of craftsmanship in excellent condition - museum quality. Pictures don’t do it justice. Superb addition to any collection. Sold in as is condition. Should you have any questions please ask before bidding/buying. Key words: saber, sword, rapier, knife, weapon
