Description: **** READ FULL LISTING - THERE ARE NUMEROUS HANDLING MARKS AND SCRATCHES ON THE SURFACES OF THIS SIDEPLATE **** Up for sale is a Good overall condition, clean Sideplate in Blued Finish that originated from a Smith & Wesson Model 586 No Dash Revolver. Condition exhibits mentionable wear to the finish, primarily on the main, facing surface of the Sideplate. The Bluing is in fact Factory Original, and maintains much of its deep, dark finish throughout, but there are rub marks, scuffs and some scratches the finish. Functionally, the Sideplate exhibits no issues: The Mounting Holes have some light scratches near their openings, but the holes themselves are not damaged. The Hammer Block Channel as well as holes on the back side for the Hammer and Trigger studs are intact. Keep in mind as well that most of these old S&W revolvers' parts were assembled with final hand-fitting of the components of the revolver. These Sideplates fit really snug when installed and tolerances are quite tight - There may be some hand fitting, polishing or filing on the edges of the Sideplate when installing it onto the opening of the frame your revolver. As always, we recommend all firearm parts are installed by a competent, licensed gunsmith. Priced to move fast, for the buyer whose priority is function over cosmetics. A great opportunity for the "Glove Box" or "Tackle Box" gun, or for a project piece for those with that special purpose in mind. **** PLEASE NOTE: COMPATIBILE MODELS: **** To the Best of our Knowledge, this Sideplate - being an early L-Frame assembly, would be compatible ONLY with the following Model S&W Revolvers, due to the fact that ALL THREE SCREW HOLES ARE THE SAME DIAMETER: - Models 586 No Dash, 586-1, 586-2 and 586M - Models 581 No Dash, 581-1, 581-2 and 581M DO NOT USE on Newer Models like the 586-3, 586-4, etc ... or the 581-3, as those later models saw a change to the Yoke Retention System which would disallow use of the Listed Assembly due to a change to how the Yoke is secured into the frame of the revolver, which resulted in the forwardmost screw hole being LARGER than the other two, because of the larger Yoke Screw that was used at that point and beyond. As with any vintage gun parts there may be minor imperfections and we have attempted to capture a fair rendition of the condition of the item in the image set. See photos for full description.
