Description: Sheltering Oaks by Maxfield Parrish is featured on a Brown & Bigelow sympathy card sample. The sample is 7 3/4" x 10 5/8" and the card size (closed) is 5 7/8" x 7 15/16". If you remove the card from the sample back and frame the card, it would look like a matted print. It is in excellent condition. Maxfield Parrish had a significant and long-lasting relationship with the Brown & Bigelow calendar company, beginning in the 1920s. Brown & Bigelow, a prominent producer of advertising calendars, commissioned Parrish to create artwork that would be used in their widely distributed calendars. His collaboration with the company helped make his art even more accessible to the public, as the calendars were sold and displayed in homes and businesses across America. Chuck Olson CollectionChuck Olson spent over 40 years collecting and traveling the United States in search of unique vintage prints. He was especially interested in prints that were printed for use on calendars in the "Age of the Calendar" from 1900-1960.
