He went on to receive his Bachelors of Art (BFA) degree from North Texas University. He then received his Masters of Art (MFA) from Texas Tech University where he was awarded numerous scholarships and was featured in many exhibitions and shows. He was also featured in 5 publications including Vogue Magazine in 2016. McCoy's skills and use of different types of mediums are diversified. He started with wood and has since used all types of metals including copper, steel, gold, silver, and bronze; ceramics, live arts, and EPS (expanded polystyrene - also known as *Styrofoam). McCoys EPS sculptures are made using his proprietary process for condensing the medium to be used for making jewelry and different types of sculptures.
