Description: A native of Ohio, Carol moved to Florida in the late 1950’s. She began her career as a graphic artist for the Tallahassee Democrat, working at the paper from 1972 to 1978, when she moved to St. Thomas in the Virgin Islands. Here, inspired by Winslow Homers’ watercolors of the Caribbean, she designed and silk-screened local scenes that were sold in art galleries, hotels, and gift shops on the island. Returning to Florida, Carol focused her talent on local landscape, floral, marine, and wildlife paintings. In Naples she studied with Maxine Masterfield, and Winifred Godfrey. Moving to Greenwood S.C. in the 90’s, Carol continued studying and did many workshops at Kanuga in Hendersonville N.C. Carol has had many one woman exhibits and won awards in juried group shows. Her paintings hang in numerous university, corporate and private homes throughout the United States and Canada. After 6 years of teaching watercolor classes at Wesley Commons, in South Carolina, she returned to Florida to pursue her love of painting abstracts and Florida scenes. Carol loves being an experimental artist and is always trying to improve and enhance her style with all water media. If a person says that her paintings look and make them happy, that is what she is hoping for.
