Description: Offered here for the first time is a superb crash site artifact of a North American Aviation X-10 supersonic remotely piloted test aircraft. The X-10 program saw its first flight 14 October 1953 at Edwards Air Force Base in California's Mojave Desert. This particular aircraft was lost on 22 February 1955. In what had been a successful flight around the High Desert, a glitch occurred 15 miles from the landing site at Edwards. The Braking Parachute erroneously deployed and the ship was lost. It impacted the Desert floor near Hi Vista, a small burg which is sparsely populated. This specimen was collected in the 1980s by a noteworthy figure in aerospace history.
