Only 100 of each car were produced. The car is number 81 of the Joint Line Series and NSC special run number 7-10. In 1918 the USRA combined the tracks between Denver and Pueblo to form the Joint Line. "Colorado Springs" is the fourteenth in a series honoring the trains and stations of the Joint Line. Colorado Springs is located at the base of Pikes Peak about 75 track miles south of Denver. The city attracted tourists and sightseers right from the start and most all of them came by train. This is a prototypical Southern Pacific B-100-46 60 foot excess height boxcar from a series of 9 cars manufactured in January of 1979 by Berwick Forge Company. The cars have prototypical end printing including the white excess height band with black lettering across the top.
