The writing instrument is encased in blue as an homage to the color of the train and the engraved pattern on the cap is inspired by delicate marquetry designs of René Prou. The small bouquet of flowers engraved on the solid Au 750 gold nib is based on another design taken from Prou's various marquetry works.
