Text description beneath the picture (subject to any spelling errors due to the OCR program used) A CABLE TRAMCAR IN MELBOURNE No people in the world travel more freely and more frequently over the surface of the earth than the citizens of the British Empire. But there still remains a remnant, and a not inconsiderable remnant in the United Kingdom which has failed even in these days to realie the fact that the great Anglo-Saxon communities across the ocean are keeping pace with, and, perhaps, in some particulars outstripping, the Old Country. There are still some to whom the fact is unknown that the well-equipped, expeditious method of communication which has only just found a place in the United Kingdom has been for some years installed as an everyday convenience in the city of Melbourne. For their benefit the above picture is presented, which will suffice to show that the cable tramway, which is still fighting its way in England and Scotland, is already appreciated and largely utilised in the Australian capital.
