Description: This is a less common Rarity 5 Variety 1926-S Peace dollar. The VAM-1X die pair features heavy die file lines on both the obverse and reverse. Mint employees left these behind after removing die clashes. I've attached some close-up photos for you to examine and compare to the popular online VAM page if you wish. This silver dollar has excellent luster, good strike for a SanFran, plus a good bit of frost. Under a strong loupe and microscope there is no sign of cleaning. Any lines you may see in the photos are the die file lines made during the strike. Please review all the photos carefully before purchase to determine condition & value for yourself. The first two photos are high-res, and you can zoom in well. At the date of listing (3/9/22), Current PCGS price guide values coins of this grade at $149 and Greysheet CPG is $195. One grade lower than this is $125 and $162 respectively. Just two weeks ago a coin like this one sold at one of the large reputable coin auctions for $174 & in January one went for $114 (not including buyer's premium and shipping). December last year two sold for $119 & $149 each, again not including fees. Ships USPS First Class mail service with ground tracking.
