Description: This lot of 100 Missouri tax tokens from the Great Depression era includes 90 red 1 mil tokens and 10 green 5 mil tokens. According to Wikipedia, the tokens were first struck in 1935. Each mil was equal to 1/10 cent and was used to pay the fractional taxes that were charged on small purchases. Stamped on the plastic tax token is “Missouri Sales Tax Token” and the denomination of the mil. In good used vintage condition. Some are in better shape than others. See photos for details.
