Description: For sale is an original $5,000 coupon gold bond issued by The Lake Shore and Michigan Southern Railroad in April 1916, shortly after they merged and became know as the New York Central Railroad Company (which is stated in the lower, right corner). The bond was issued to the Union Institution for Savings in the City of Boston and has the usual signatures and redemption punch holes. It measures 13" x 9ΒΌ" and has a beautiful etching of a steam locomotive.
