KING EDWARD VII: A Biography-Volumes I & II by Sir Sidney Lee-1925 hardbacks

Description: KING EDWARD VII: A BIOGRAPHY by SIR SIDNEY LEE Volumes I and IIPublished by Macmillan & Co.; London: 1925 & 1927FROM A SMOKE-FREE HOME VOLUME I: From Birth to Accession--9th November 1841 to 22nd January 1901 is a hardback book that measure 9" x 6.5" and has 831 pages. Per the Preface: "It is at the request of King George V., King Edward VII.'s son, that this biography has been undertaken." Condition: Both volumes of these almost 100-year-old hardback books are showing their age, especially on the outside. You can see by my pictures that the front cover corner has had a spill of some sort that damaged the color of the cover and also bled into the first few inside page edges and also the outside pages. (See pix #5, 19 and 22.) The covers are also worn and frayed at some of the corners and edges. Inside the book you will see a name and date in ink from a prior owner and a little foxing here and there in the margins of some of the pages. The binding, while a little wobbly, is still attached at the covers, and I see only one loose page--the Illustrations page. The pages of both volumes are free of writing or underlining and also free of rips. You will find absolutely no problem in reading the text. Please see the above pix and judge for yourself the condition of these books.VOLUME II: The Reign--22nd January 1901 to 6th May 1910 is a hardback book that measures 9.5" x 6.5" and has 768 pages. (Please note, Volume II is a half inch taller than Volume I.) Per the Publisher's Note, the author died right after the completion of Volume I. However, he had completed much of the work in this volume and had left extensive notes so that the second volume was written and completed in 1927. Condition: This volume is in better condition than Volume I because it is without the liquid spill and resulting bleeding. The covers show less wear in the corners and edges, but not as much fraying as Volume I. There is a prior owner's name, address and date in ink on the inside of the front cover. I see no other markings on any of the inside pages other than a little foxing as with Volume I. The binding is in better condition than Volume I. It's not wobbly and there are no loose or missing pages. As with Volume I, this book is very readable.Shipping will be via USPS Media Mail. THESE BOOKS WILL BE WRAPPED AND BOXED FOR SHIPPING. I got more taken with the period, than with the book I thought I would write. Now that I am in down-sizing mode, a lot of these books must go.
