Description: Katana Hunter Katana Hunter The Katana Hunter is built on the Hanwei L6/Bainite leaf in the Shinogi Zukuri style, and features an excellent koshirae, the Hunter is a highly desirable and functional piece. The dim green silk ito and the green striped lacquered saya complement the blackened tsuba with golden accents, with a rapacious lurking at its next prey. Bainite is a high carbon steel structure that combines high strength with excellent flexibility and shock absorption characteristics. It has been known as an exemplary component of the Katana leaf for several years, but its use has been limited to a few first-class blacksmith teachers, due to the difficulties involved in performing the demanding heat treatment procedures necessary for the production of a bainite leaf. Body in combination with the very hard martensite Yakiba (edge section) required for the leaves of the Katanas. Hanwei has now mastered this difficult process, using L-6 tool steel billets (a low alloy steel with a very strong high carbon content) as a starting point.
