Inukshuks serve several functions, including guiding travellers, warning of danger, assisting hunters and marking places of reverence. Serpentine is a fine-grained, compact rock that can be many colors, including apple-green, black, brown, gray, orange, pink, white, and yellow. It's often mottled with light and dark areas, and has a shiny or wax-like appearance - it is made up of magnesium silicate minerals, such as lizardite, chrysotile, and antigorite. Serpentine is often used as an ornamental stone and has been carved into many decorative objects.
