Inukshuk Inuit Sculpture by Mary Adla Cape Dorset Serpentine early 2000's 5.5"H

Description: Inukshuk Inuit Sculpture by Mary Adla Cape Dorset Serpentine early 2000's 5.5"H This piece by Inuit artist Mary Adla is a represtentation of an Inukshuk. Made from Serpentine stone - It measures 5.5" in height, 5" in length and 2.5" in width. In excellent pre-owned condition, with no damage. Signed on bottom in Inuktitut syllabics. The word “inukshuk” means “in the likeness of a human.” For generations, Inuit have been creating these impressive stone markers on the vast Arctic landscape. Inukshuks serve several functions, including guiding travellers, warning of danger, assisting hunters and marking places of reverence. Serpentine is a fine-grained, compact rock that can be many colors, including apple-green, black, brown, gray, orange, pink, white, and yellow. It's often mottled with light and dark areas, and has a shiny or wax-like appearance - it is made up of magnesium silicate minerals, such as lizardite, chrysotile, and antigorite. Serpentine is often used as an ornamental stone and has been carved into many decorative objects. It's also sometimes used in meditation to help achieve a deeper state of relaxation and spiritual awareness.* SHIPS NEXT BUSINESS DAY * Tracking * S&H $8.95 * Carefully Packed *
