Make sure to check our other listings.* Incredible NASA Collection 22 Kodak Photo Negatives Untethered Spacewalk 1984 Features: incredible and rare NASA collection of 22 photo negatives featuring Bruce McCandless II during the first ever untethered space walk and much more. The first negative featured is an iconic photo of Bruce McCandless II floating in outer space with the Earth behind him. This photo negative has been reproduced many times and is in the top 5 requested NASA photos of all time. The negative is protected inside a plastic sleeve and written on the outside is the ID# S84-27017 which matches the ID# in the NASA database. All of the other negatives are also protected inside plastic sleeves and many also have ID#’s written on the plastic sleeves. There are a handful of negatives featuring Bruce McCandless II during the untethered spacewalk and some quite scarcely seen. In addition to Bruce McCandless II, the lot includes other astronauts in the STS-41B crew including an informal portrait of the crew which features astronauts Vance D. Brand commander; Robert L. “Hoot” Gibson, pilot; and Dr. Ronald E. McNair, Bruce McCandless II, and Robert L. Stewart, all mission specialists. This lot came from the collection of a former staff photographer at the Houston Post during 1984 and comes with a couple accompanying pieces of paper with corresponding captions to the negatives in advance of the ‘first still photo release’ from the Johnson Space Center. Negatives all have 395 Kodak along edges and taken with 70MM, 35MM and possible other frames. We are happy to send additional photos or information if requested. Size: each negative measures approximately 3 1/2” x 3 1/2” for visible image. Full negative sleeve approximately 4” x 5” Condition report: not inspected outside of protective sleeves, however condition seems very good. Some dust or build up on outside of sleeves. See pictures.
