Description: Hi all! This is a wonderful fossil Astragalus (ankle bone) from a Camel or Llama from the Pleistocene of Florida! The bone measures 2.23 inches with no repair or restoration! Despite being associated with the Middle East and Sahara region, Camelids originated in North America about 50 million years ago! They then diversified and spread across the globe before going extinct in North America at the end of the Ice Age. During the Ice Age, a variety of Camelid species lived in North America. Because they lived in a more tropical climate than their Saharan/Middle Eastern counterparts, the North American Camelids didn't have the iconic humps used to store water and fat! All of my items come with a Certificate of Authenticity! If I have a fossil or mineral listed up as something, I make darn well sure that's what it is! I do combined shipping on all items upon request! I have all sorts of fossils for sale at great prices and I upload new items frequently!
