Description: This is a vintage Disston Backsaw. The blade on this saw measures 14" long and 3" from the teeth to the bottom of the steel backer at the handle and 2 7/8" at the toe as pictured. The backer is straight and is tightly connected to the blade. The blade is straight, has all of its teeth and a mostly full etch as shown. There is no model number in the etch - as was typical of Early 20'th Century backsaws. The etch reflects lettering with curled serifs which were used from 1865 to early 1880's. The backer and blade on this example are in fine condition with only minor very shallow pitting and discoloration that do not effect the saws performance - it cuts well and runs true. The applewood handle on this saw is excellent - no cracks, no chips, full horns and a single top nib. The handle holds tightly to the blade. The medallion on this example was used from 1896 to 1917. The blade and backer have been cleaned and polished with Wizards Metal Renew. The handle has been cleaned with Kramer's Best Antique Improver. I have taken a number of pictures of this saw, they are an integral part of my description, please look them over carefully for all the finer details they provide. I only accept PayPal. I only ship to the contiguous 48 States. Please email any questions. Thank You for Your Interest.
