Description: Name: Flexicalymene meeki w/spines Age: Upper Ordovician Formation: Richmond Formation Location: Monroe, Ohio Size: Trilobite is about 2 inches long! This is a rare outstretched example of Flexicalymene meeki from the Ordovician of Ohio. This specimen was found YEARS ago in Monroe, Ohio, and just now prepared. This is not the more common Flexicalymene retrorsa, it is a F. meeki, easily recognizable by the distinct genal spines on this specimen. This very large trilobite is extremely inflated and beautifully articulated. The thick-shelled exoskeleton of the bug is very complete, and the free cheeks are intact and tightly attached. The dark brown trilobite contrasts beautifully with the blue-grey matrix. The finely detailed bug is well showcased on the very large, natural block of shale. This is one of the best examples of Flexicalymene meeki from this very unusual locality that we've seen. A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS.com is included with this item.
