Description: Echibeckia “Summerina” Echinacea x Rudbeckia Cross Seed This unique hybrid delivers the appearance and fast growth of Rudbeckia, plus the vigor and disease tolerance of Echinacea! The orange-tipped petals start with a broad red-brown center. Flowers are huge - three inches in diameter - and can last two to three months. Excellent for sunny waterwise gardens. An herbaceous perennial. Seeds collected from my plants on 10/10/2023. Plants start blooming in May and continue through fall. I removed upper spent seed heads and lower flowers continue blooming like crazy. Pictures are plants in my garden last summer. Seedling plants shown too. 1/2 teaspoon which is a few hundred seeds will be sent to you. Sprinkle seeds on prepared soil surface and keep moist. Seeds need light to germinate. Plant now and small plants will over winter and take off growing in the spring and start blooming as early as May, earlier if you are in a mild climate. Considering how many seeds must drop to the ground I get very few volunteers on the ground. Instead, I sprinkle seeds over soil in a flat and try to mist them 1 or more times a day to keep them moist and in contact with the soil and with that moisture they start sprouting like crazy. The last photo taken 8-12-2024 is seedlings from seeds planted 1 week ago and kept moist. I used to separate the plants when they were large enough but now I just plant the whole pot as soon as it has a root ball and you get a large clump of plants and lots of flowers. These will overwinter and start blooming in the spring and continue all summer long.
