Description: Up for auction is this Highly Desirable, E. Howard Pocket Watch in a Gold Filled Open-Face Case and Fancy Box-Car Watch Chain! This well known and collectible watch comes contained within a worn, round rose gold filled, OF, Fortune pocket watch case. It measures 2.75" long (including bail) x 2" in diameter x 3/8" thick! It has a polished front bezel with a worn beveled crystal, a rounded edge center frame, and a polished back. The back cover reverse is stamped, “Fortune, Gold Filled, A.W.C. Co., Case Made in Canada, 3420691”. The front bezel & back covers are both screw-on/ off, and although the crown will move the hands (tight) and occationally wind the watch, the stem is not properly engaging. This case exhibits numerous small scratches, impressions which is commensurate with its age. The back cover does not fit snug with the frame. There is brassing, and the crown does not match the case color. (We do not buff or otherwise remove any blemish or tarnish from found watches. This is soley up to the new owner to undertake, if they so choose.) The watch has a handsome signed, “E. Howard & Co., Boston”, white, baked glass enamel single-sunk dial with Black Roman numerals, and it’s original cobalt blue umbrella hands! We could see no hairlines. (See photos) The case contains an early signed, clean and functioning, movement signed, “E. Howard & Co., Boston, 60326”. The palace has good motion when gently rocked back and forth. It has not been tested, and we can not vouch for its accuracy, reliability, missing, broken or scratched parts and pieces.
