Description: Dragon Armor King Tiger Ausf. B II - Henschel Turret No. 60003, Vintage year - 2003 - Out of Production Scale - 1:72 Unit - 2.Kompanie - sPzAbt 505 - Schwere Panzer Abteilung 505 was the last independent tank battalion formed in February 1943 with Tigers Is and Pz.Kpfw. IIIs. The unit was sent to Heeres Gruppe Mitte on the Eastern Front where it upgraded with new Tigers. It took part in Operation Citadel as part of Model's 9th Armee. The 505th lost only four Tigers during Kursk but lost another six by the end of July 1943. After Kursk, the battalion was moved to the Smolensk area. It was equipped with the new Tiger Is and was ordered out of the Eastern Front in July 1944 to refit at Ohrdruf. In September 1944, the unit was equipped with the new Tiger Ausf. B (King Tiger) and was used with the 24th and 25th Panzer Divisions against the Narev Bridgeheads in the 1944 Russian offensive into East Prussia where it fought until the end of the conflict. Campaign - Late 1944 - On July 6, 1944, six Tiger II tanks were delivered as the battalion is reconstituted. Another 39 are delivered between 10-29 August. In September the battalion is attached to 2.Armee for support. The battalion is then attached to the 24.Panzer-Division and conducts terrain recon near the Narev River, where the Soviet forces had penetrated the "East Prussia" Position. The 2nd Kompanie is assembled west of Giedziunowo. In late September the battalion is attached to the newly arrived 3.Panzer Division for Operation "Sunflower." Later in October they withdraw to Klein Haldenau and covering position near Grunweide. Later the tanks are attached to Fallschirm-Panzer-Korps "Hermann Goring." By December there are 30 operational Tigers and they are attached to XXXXIX.Panzer-Korps. Markings - Tan and dark brown camouflage with black knight on charger insignia on turret as well as extra track armor. No. "213" in white on back of turret and main gun barrel. The detail is exceptional with accurate colors and weathering. Condition - like new with minor wear on box. With display case. This model is from my personal collection - no dust - smoke free home.
