Description: WebVinyl Presents! Donovan “Catch The Wind” Original 1965 U.S. First Pressing Mono 33-1/3 RPM 12” Vinyl Folk / Rock LP! No Reserve! DESCRIPTION Donovan - “Catch The Wind” Hickory Records LPM 123 (Mono) from 1965. Hard to find Original U.S. First Pressing Vinyl Folk / Singer Songwriter / Rock album from Donovan (Leitch) with Skip Alan (Pretty Things), Brian Locking and Gypsy Dave. This is the Original U.S. First Edition Mono release of the album which was first released in the UK the same year under the title “What’s Bin Did And What’s Bin HId”. In the Original Cover the Non-Reversed Cover Photo. I have seen this described as both Left Facing and Right Facing but basically it means Donovan is shown playing the guitar Right Handed (i.e. strumming with his right hand) and facing the spine of the album cover. Also, the Cover does not have the “High Fidelity Recording” text in the upper corner and the label lists the song “Tangerine Puppet” as “Tangerine Puppett". This is a Monarch First Pressing as shown by the Runout Vinyl / Matrix markings that read: Matrix / Runout (Both sides, Stamped): [Monarch Logo] (MR in a Circle) Matrix / Runout (Side A runout Etched): XTBV100806-1B LPM F-125 P̶Y̶-1̶2̶7̶ Δ8052XMatrix / Runout (Side B runout Etched): XTBV100807-1B LPM F-126 P̶Y̶-1̶2̶6̶ Δ8052 CONDITION The Sleeve is in good shape. There is some shelf wear and corner softening/wear. There is a promo punch hole in the upper left corner. Still very solid with no splits, stains, tears, writing, etc. and would rate VG. The Vinyl is in clean Glossy condition. There are scuffs and hairlines - no actual scratches i.e. something you can feel with a finger nail. VG visually and plays VG or better with some light groove noise, random soft tics and a couple spots of repeating soft tics - no skips, loud pops, etc. and might be improved with a better cleaning than I can give with my Discwasher brush. The Labels show a few light spindle trails and slight wear but are at least VG+. If I provide Play Grades it is done as a courtesy but I only guarantee the Visual Grade. If you are not familiar with this grading system (or even if you think you are!), please check it out before bidding. I have summarized the important (i.e. I think everyone knows what Mint means) points below in Goldmine's words: Very Good Plus (VG+): Record surfaces may show some slight signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect one's listening experience. Slight warps that do not affect the sound are OK. Very Good (VG): Surface noise will be evident upon playing,... Groove wear will start to be noticeable, as will light scratches (deep enough to feel with a fingernail) that will affect the sound. I stand by my grades but would like us to be on the same page so no problems arise. I have been selling Vintage Vinyl for over twenty years on the net and I can count the returns I've had on one hand so I believe my grading is fair and accurate. One important note, I try to grade to these Goldmine guides as best as I can understand and apply them. This gives us both a written standard to go by rather than having to guess. But.... it also means that I don't issue refunds over differences of opinion in grading i.e. "That's not MY idea of a VG record!" - I don't know what your standards are and, as such, can't grade to them. I guarantee that items I sell will meet my description, nothing more or less! If you are not satisfied that a purchase meets my description, I will do what I can to make it right if you give me the chance and work with me! Please feel free to check my feedback.
