Scale: 1:140 Length: 5.98" Rotor Span: 4.95" Sikorsky Black Hawk : The VH-60N Marine Corps, a helicopter used to transport the United States President and Vice President; including other officials of state. It can sit 10 passengers and aircrew members (i.e. pilot/co-pilot/crew-chief/ communication operators). Utilized as an Executive transport aircraft, it's designed to comfortably provide ample passenger rooming. Also, due to it's effectiveness in functionality and structure of accommodating various executive officials this aircraft receives extensive and high maintenance mechanical oversight which is far more superior than the average aircraft maintenance; for it serves to transport high ranking U.S. officials and their fellow guests/families. Additionally, the aircraft can be quickly folded within an estimated time of less than 2 hours. Amazingly, it has the capacity to be loaded and storaged onto aircrafts such as the Air Force C-5A/B, the C-17, Air Force B, C-130, and the C-141 within a short durational time frame! Due it's overall functions, the Marine Helicopter Squadron One [HMX-1] is the SOLE helicopter aircraftsupport for our executive transport within the United States and even overseas.VH-60N is in Phase III which is the production, deployment, and operational support phase-functions of it's life cycle. This helicopter is therefore expected to remain in service until 2015. After the year 2015, an executive/military decision is expected to be made for the purpose of sustaining it's continual service in the Life Extension Aircraft Proghram. If so, the helicopter may be possibly utilized up until the year 2025 thus increasing it's value and lifespan for the effective service to executives, military and to the benefit of our Country, U.S.A. Additional VH-60N facts/background history : Currently the aircraft is primarily housed in Quantico Virginia by the squadron HMX-1. Naval Air system Command contracts to servicemen and women (i.e. pilots, pilot instructors, system communication operators, and maintenance aircraft workers) for the VH-60N have no specific known aircrew staff or trainers. However on November 26 1995, the Navy's Secretary of Defense procured a VH helicopter pilot simulator for the HMX-1 squadron, and by April 2000 a contract was approved and the VH-60N Aircrew Proficiency Trainer Simulation Program was implemented. *VH-60N Technical Descriptions/Parts/Designs: "...single main rotor, twin engine helicopter, designed as an executive transport. The VH-60N aircraft systems, furnishings and equipment have been optimized for executive transport missions. The main and tail rotor blades, stabilator, and tail rotor pylon can fold to reduce dimensions for air transportability or storage. The aircrew consists of a pilot, co-pilot, communications system operator, and crew chief. When on a mission, the detachment is completely self-contained, supported by dedicated aircrew, maintenance, technical representatives, security personnel and logistics. In addition to its Executive air support role, it also provides support for emergency evacuation, development of new systems, and training of new helicopter tactics. The VH-60N is still in production at the Sikorsky Aircraft Division of United Technologies. The VH-60N has an original service life expectancy of 7,500 flight hours (the "fleet" standard service life) based on its original design and evaluative process. The aircraft are constantly monitored for appropriate maintenance schedules, and modifications to established maintenance procedures are instituted each time an indication of necessity or desirability for such change occurs. Since the VH-60N air-frame is a newer technology, for which many components have not even been assigned a service life expectancy, detailed study has gone into arriving at service life designations to be applied. Corgi "Showcase Collection" die-cast airplanes feature: Die cast metal construction with some plastic components Realistic panel lines and surface details Pad printed markings that won't fade or peel like decals Pose-able stand to display the aircraft "in flight" Moving parts such as propellers, rotors and swing-wings where applicable
