Description: Now available in a Combo Kit: Click Here This is the interface PC board for the Clough42 Lathe Electronic Leadscrew controller. The goal of the project is to replace the change gears or gearbox on a metalworking lathe with a stepper motor controlled electronically based on an encoder on the lathe spindle. The electronic controller allows setting different virtual gear ratios for feeds and threading. This PC board mounts on a Texas Instruments LaunchXL F280049C prototyping board and provides connections for power, an encoder, a display and keypad and a stepper or servo driver to drive the lathe's leadscrew. For more information on this project, search "Clough42 Electronic Leadscrew" on YouTube, or "clough42/electronic-leadscrew" on GitHub. Included in this package:ELS Boost v2.1 PC board assemblyPower connectorTwo (2) 2x10 female header connectorsOne (1) 5-pin right-angle headersOne (1) 6-pin servo connectorOne (1) 6-pin servo screw terminal plugThrough-hole soldering is required to attach the provided connectors to the PC board. Important: solder the power connector first; it's hard to do after the servo connector is added. To complete the project, you will also need a LaunchXL prototyping board, display, encoder, servo or stepper with driver, and other hardware. None of this additional hardware is included. See the documentation on GitHub and the YouTube videos for more information. NOTE: this version of the board does not include the EEPROM chip, due to lack of availability. The EEPROM was included in the original versions of the board, but was never used, so leaving it unpopulated will have no effect on functionality. Lead Free.
