Description: Very nice example of an early American caltrop, or "crows feet". These were used for centuries by armies around the world, who would throw these along the road to cripple enemy horses. Designs varied, and there is no concrete way to date these - although this one likely dates from 1800-1865. An interesting piece of military history for the relic room!
