Description: Offered here is an interesting engraving by a German engraver named F. C. Kruger. Although my German is rusty, with the help of Google Translate, the language below the image appears to say something like "A drawing made by Paul Cagliari Veron. Engraved in Copper by F. C. Kruger". The image is definitely Biblical in nature, showing what appears to be a Pope and perhaps St. Peter over to the left with the key. I have been unable to find another example of this print online. The British Museum online references and has a work by an F. C. Kruger dated 1795. The Museum gives his dates being active at 1795. However, I have found another work by Kruger online that was dated to 1781, so I would say this print would be somewhere in the 1780s to 1790s. The dimensions of the print itself are 7 1/2 inches in height by 7 5/8 inches in width. This print is from my personal collection which I am beginning to sell off.
