REPRINT ~ Near-Mint "N162" (actually, simply "162") - the "N" (for 19th century) being added in later years - is the designation Jefferson Burdick in his American Card Catalog decades ago gave Goodwin & Company's colorful cards of 1888 inserted in Old Judge and Gypsy Queen cigarette packages. Original cards from this set are now more than 125 years old and an individual card of the most common player will cost hundreds of dollars in top condition. This card is reproduced in close-to-the- original 1-1/2" by 2-5/8" size (being 1-5/8" by 2-3/4") with colorized image of a prominent player of the day. The back carries a checklist of the set, starting with "Base Ball Players". In those days, the game was a two-word affair. Here is an opportunity to acquire a reprint of a very scarce card at a affordable price. This reprint was issued in the 1980s by the venerable Card Collectors Company of Franklin Square, New York - whose annual catalogs were perused with care by hobbyists for decades.
