Black Silk Cotton Bodice with Striped Lining Late 1800s French Antique Clothing

This piece has a fabulous sort of light black gauzy fabric on the front which creates a great effect, almost like striping in a way. This is a classic Victorian bodice, dating to the mid-late 19th century. There is an amazing textile on the inside- a great striped white and gray fabric which makes this bodice so fun! There is boning built into the bodice; it may be whalebone. There is a dressmakers stamp on the waist tape - it is a little hard to read but what I can see says "Mme. Gatreau / Robes et Manteaux", as well as an address that I cant decipher. Take a look at the photos and see what you can glean from it! Overall, this is a stunning bodice in fabulous shape for wear, design inspiration, or for study! MEASUREMENTS : Length: 20.5 inches long Chest: 42 inches Waist: 34 inches Shoulders across the back: 14.5 inches Sleeves: 23 inches long from shoulder seam to cuff ~*~ CONDITION : This bodice is in as found, not freshly laundered condition. This piece has some signs of wear, but it is in really great condition for its age! The snaps on the front dont hold too strongly, so you may want to replace them if you intend this piece for wear.
