Description: BANTHRICO MORRIS PLAN OF CALIFORNIA COVERED WAGON BANK I acquired this bank 3/2002. I am trimming my bank collection.Unlike many of the banks in my collection, if I were keeping my collection I would be looking to replace this one, as, while solid, the finish is rather worn. My best recollection is that finding a good example at the time was not possible. In any case, Redwine's book claims this bank is from the 1950s - offering some reason for the wear and scarcity. This bank is also interesting in the the bank name is part of the casting, not stamped on. On one side it is marked "MORRIS PLAN OF CALIFORNIA PIONEERS OF CONSUMER CREDIT". The other side is marked "MORRIS PLAN OF CALIFORNIA THRIFT LOANS". Plate 430 in Redwine's book, rarity rating C. No key for coin trap, but using a Banthrico key from another bank it does work.. Kept out of the sun and in a non smoking home since acquired. Shipping is USPS priority mail (eBay no longer supports USPS ground). Shipping weight 1.5 pounds.
