This listing is for a vintage Armstrong "Special" model alto saxophone mouthpiece. This is exactly the same as the Couf branded "Special" model. Herbert Couf was at one point the president of Armstrong, so there is a natural connection there. The "Special" model is a good quality step up level mouthpiece. It is made of plastic. This one has a 3* facing, but don't let the low number dissuade you. The actual tip opening is larger than one might expect. It measures .072". For reference, that is roughly equal to a Meyer #5. That is the ideal spot for a lot of players. As far as the internals, the inner side walls are flat and slightly undercut. It has a medium oblong chamber. This mouthpiece is in excellent, lightly used condition. The facing is perfectly smooth, and original. There are no tooth indentations on the beak. There are some light scratches/scuffs on the exterior. The logo/markings are clear. This piece has been cleaned/sanitized. Please feel free to message me with any questions. Thanks again for looking!
