The M1913 bayonet was one of only a few bayonet types to utilize checkered wood grips. In 1913, the "Machete Bayoneta Modelo 1913" was adopted to replace the knife bayonet identified as M1893. However, when the M1916 short rifle was adopted in 1916, the M1913 bayonet became designated for use with the M1916 short rifle instead. It was subsequently also designated for use with the M1943 short rifle. A ricasso marked "ARTILLERIA / Crossed Cannon symbol / FCA NACIONAL / TOLEDO." The opposite side bears the serial number "44771". CONDITION: Age and usage are showing. The bayonet is in good condition, considering its age.
