The rug has been professionally cleaned. No stains, tears, holes, animal or smoke. Double tied knots on two foundation layers (100 knots per square inch per foundation layer, effective 200 kpsi, will last centuries). This special carpet is made of sheep kurk wool and natural vegetable dyes by skilled crafts people from villages and hamlets at the base of Mt. Sabalan. Its mineral rich waters when used to wash the rug during the finishing process lends unusually rich and vivid tones famous for the region. Myriad tones light to dark of each major color: spectrum of red from pomegranate beet and madder root, dark medium and light blue from indigo grape lilac hyacinth and centaurea cyanus, wheats and tans from larkspur and weld, and browns from bark, nutshell. Natural dyes oxidize over the century giving light and dark shades of each color called 'abrash' by curators, a beautiful affect, giving lots of tone shades and nuance as seen in closeups.
