Description: A very nice Hero's Cross Mason's Patent Nov. 30th, 1858 quart canning jar with a milk glass-lined zinc lid. It is marked on the bottom with Pat Nov 26, 67, with numbers 711 in the middle.The Maltese Cross symbol indicates the Hero Glass Works / Hero Fruit Jar Company of Philadelphia, PA, made this jar during the 1870-1890s. The letters "H," "F," "J," and "Co" can be faintly seen within each "arm" of the cross. It is nicely whittled with bubbles.
