Description: Item Description This listing is for an absolutely stunning Japanese Kutani cup and saucer set. It is exquisitely hand painted. The plate has a diameter of 5.5 inches. To the best of my knowledge it dates from the late 19th century or the Meiji period. Aside from the Nihon marking, I was not able to personally identify the markings on the back as I am the farthest thing from an antiquity expert that you can get. If I have mislabeled this, please have mercy on my soul and contact me so I can update this listing. I really want to ensure my listing is accurate as possible so customers can get exactly what they were hoping to get. The provenance of this item is that it came from the historic Milo Smith House in Denver. It is on the historic registry and believed to be the longest single occupied house in Denver. The same family inhabited it since it was built in 1890. They were a wealthy and influential family around the turn of the century. The last remaining family member passed away a year ago and since then the contents of the house have been auctioned off. The vast majority of items in the house date before 1920. Finally, I do have multiple different Kutani cup and saucer sets for sale. I am always happy to combine shipping and only charge exactly what it costs to ship. I do apologize about the higher shipping costs on this item. Since this item is so fragile, I double box the item, which makes the final package rather large. Item Condition I made sure to take as many pics as possible. So please take a close look at the pictures for exact condition as I tried to take them from every angle possible. After all, some people's “perfect” is another person's “mauled by a bear.” However, this set is really in pristine condition and I could not see any damage of any kind. The porcelain is so delicate that I am pretty sure if you give the set a dirty look it would fall apart. I don't think it could ever survive being dropped from four inches onto carpet. Shipping and Warranty This item will be shipped via USPS. I care about my customers deeply and that extends to making sure they get their item as soon as possible. Unless I am dead or in a coma at the hospital, this item will be at the post office the same day if it is purchased before 4:00 PM MST. Otherwise, it will be there first thing in the morning. If it is 20 degrees below zero and 3 feet of snow . . . refer to the above statement. It will still be at the post office. “Officially” this item is being sold as is with no returns. Unofficially, I will of course take care of any concerns you may have. I have 100% feedback and I pride myself on taking great care of my customers. I just don’t do it officially because I have been burned a couple of times by buyers on some high value items. To be blunt, if you return an item in similar condition to what it was sent out I will take care of it and refund your money promptly. If it comes back being run over by a steam roller because you work on a road crew and I can tell where you tried to get all the asphalt off with a jackhammer . . . then please refer to the first sentence where this item is “being sold as is with no returns.” Thank you for checking out this listing and I hope you have a nice day!!! 7
