Description: I have acquired an antique Japanese tobacco pouch from the 1800s. I am not an expert in this field. I cannot claim to know much about this item but I will describe it as best I can. I expect someone with knowledge will be the one to purchase it and can determine the needed information from the pictures. The fabric is a purple and copper colored silk brocade I believe. It depicts what I think are cranes flying. There is a silver clasp that shows what I believe is a dragon. The inside is lined with a different fabric or a soft leather with images of horses, leaves and tall plants. There are two pouches. Attached to the back is a silver chain which leads to a large round "medallion"? - the carved silver depicts beautiful flowers and leaves. I have not tried to clean this or open it too many times because of the age. It measures 5.25" wide, 4" high and 1" deep. The attached chains (5 on top and 5 underneath) are 4" long and 1" wide. The medallion has a 2.25" diameter on the outside and the silver circle is 1.75" in diameter. It seems to be in very good condition.
