The Alaris 8100 can be pole mounted and used in many versatile clinical settings for adults, pediatrics, and neonates. The Alaris 8100 is intended for facilities that utilize infusion pumps for the delivery of fluids, medications, blood, and blood products using continuous or intermittent delivery through clinically acceptable routes of administration, such as, intravenous (IV), intra-arterial (IA), subcutaneous, epidural, enteral, or irrigation of fluid spaces. The Alaris Medley system is unique because multiple infusion and monitoring modules can be attached to a central point of care unit. Clinicians can combine up to four modules to not only deliver infusions but also assess the patient’s response to therapy. The Alaris Medley system uses Guardrails, the most comprehensive infusion safety software available today. It protects every patient and every infusion with a dedicated drug library and preset dosage limits. Potential medication errors are identified and corrected before infusions are started. Clinical advisories alert nurses to special precautions that are required for certain medications. Guardrails software is specifically designed for hospital systems so DiaMedical USA created an abbreviated version for healthcare training programs.
