This frame embodies the innovation of the 80s, a time when frame builders started experimenting with new materials and Alan was spearheading that innovation. Note the unusual shape of the lugs, dropouts and top tube. This piece of retro-futurist history shows the builder's spirit in experimentation and an embrace of bold new ideas. HistoryFounded in 1972 by Falconi Lodovico, the name Alan comes from an acronym of his children's names (ALberto and ANnamaria). Alan was the first frame builder to produce aluminum and carbon frames by utilizing a unique way of joining tubes, commonly referred to as “Glued and Screwed”. This means all joints had both a mechanical and bonded connection, giving them a reputation for extremely rigid frames as well as the ability to join dissimilar materials.
