Akai 4000DS Reel-to-Reel Tape Recorder *Partially Working* - AS-IS

Description: Akai 4000DS Reel-to-Reel Tape Recorder *Partially Working* - AS-IS/Parts Repair - NO RETURNS - During the testing of this vintage reel-to-reel powered on without issue, and the illumination coming on. As we inspected the unit we found that the "3-2, Stereo, 1-4" selector knob has been replaced, and the "Pause" switch is missing the plastic cap. It was also found that the "Right" reel does not spin, but the "Left" reel does spin, allowing the "RWD" function to work. The drive wheel moves and will spin when the "FWD/REC" switch is turned. Due to this units right side reel not spinning, we were unable to test the audio heads. For this reason we are selling this unit in the AS-IS/Parts Repair condition. Since this item is being sold AS-IS, this item should be considered to have defects, and we have done our best to disclose them. In the case of an item that doesn't function as intended, there is a chance that other flaws, that we are not aware of, may be present. Please take that into consideration when purchasing. Used, but still in good condition. TESTED, and some working order, with several repairs and parts needed. Does not include manual, or original packaging. NO SPEAKERS, CABLES, OR OTHER ACCESSORIES ARE INCLUDED. Unit shows some wear and scratches, but overall is in good cosmetic condition. (SEE PICTURES). The knobs are mostly all present(has a replaced 3-2, Stereo, 1-4 selector knob), with all of the illumination working, and the knobs, switches, and buttons mostly all function as they're supposed to. With the "RWD/F.FWD" switch only being able to select the "RWD" function, and the right side reel not spinning, we could not complete testing. As we do not repair electronics, nor have we attempted any repairs. We list items in the AS-IS/Parts Repair condition in the hopes that someone that can repair these items, or salvage parts from them that they might find useful. In either case, units sold in the AS-IS/Parts Repair condition, are not returnable.
