Activated carbon filtration is suggested when trying to achieve a pure, neutral spirit and is not intended for filtering product where residual character, aroma, and color are necessary, such as whisky, rum, or schnapps.The difference between our 0.4 - 1.4mm premium carbon is that the granules in this carbon are slightly larger, which allows it to be reused many more times than the smaller, 0.4 - 0.85mm size carbon because the granules gradually become smaller with each use. However, if you do reuse your activated carbon, there is a specific process that you must follow to rinse and dry the carbon in between each use, which can prolong the life of your carbon. I've done this but didn't get as much use out of it afterwards as new charcoal.
