Description: Rarest of all Schwinn road bikes. Made only in 1977 and 1978, the Volare was a step below the Paramount. It used the Reynolds 531 tubing and has some of the nicest lugging you will ever see. Note how the frame and forks were chrome plated and then painted over (at the factory). This bike is all original to my knowledge except for tires. It has a similar year Brooks leather saddle that I took off my dad’s Paramount. What makes this bike extra cool is that it used 1st year Shimano Dura-ace components. Condition is amazing for a 47 year old bike. Almost perfect. There is a very small ding in the top tube and that is the only notable flaw. This was the smaller frame (~21”) and it uses the Araya 700x28c rims with Durace large flange quick release hubs. Schwinn wheel size. This was my second road bike. I road it from Lansing Michigan up to the Mackinaw bridge (DALMAC).
